Our talented students, Ruth R, Charlie H, Nathan P and Reuben M, showcased exceptional debating and Oracy skills, competing against sixth formers from other schools on challenging and thought-provoking topics.
In the first round they argued for the statement 'Healthcare workers should not be allowed to strike', defeating Pudsey Grammar School. Round 2 saw them debating against The Grammar School at Leeds, winning with their arguments for 'Populism is a threat to democracy'.
The final debate saw our team tackle the controversial motion; 'Trial by jury should be removed in certain cases' - debating opposite Bradford Grammar School. Speaking against the statement, we are delighted to share that Abbey Grange CofE Academy were the outright winners.
Special congratulations go to Ruth who was awarded "Best Individual" for her outstanding performance, and Nathan who received the "Commended Individual" award.
This year marked the third year of the competition, hosted at the Royal Armouries in partnership with The Leeds Salon and proudly sponsored by UKREiiF.
