Welcome to Regal Recallers – Our KS3 Homework System

When you join Year 7, you will take part in our Regal Recallers homework programme. This system is designed to help you learn and remember the essential vocabulary you need to succeed in all their subjects.

What is Regal Recallers?

Regal Recallers is our structured vocabulary‑based homework system for Key Stage 3. Each subject has a set of important Tier 3 keywords – these are the specialist terms that help our students understand lessons, access curriculum content and perform well in assessments.

What will be received?

At the start of Year 7, you will be given:

  • A Regal Recallers Subject Keyword Booklet
  • A Recall Book for completing homework tasks

Most subjects have 100 key words, introduced gradually during Years 7–9.Art and Design & Technology provide 50 words because they rotate between practical and vocabulary‑based tasks.

How does the homework work?

You will follow a homework timetable. Each Regal Recallers task includes:

  • 4 keywords to learn
  • Teachers introducing and explaining each word in class

You will then:

  1. Spend 15–20 minutes learning the words, definitions, and accompanying pictures (this helps memory).
  2. Close the booklet and open the Recall Book.
  3. Write the date and subject, then write each word and draw the matching picture from memory.
  4. Check their work and make corrections in purple pen.

Teachers monitor completion and reward positive effort.

How will learning be reinforced?

  • Mini‑quizzes take place at the start of lessons.
  • Bigger quizzes happen each half term to strengthen long‑term recall.

What about other subjects?

  • English, Maths, and Science continue to set homework through Sparx.
  • French and Spanish set additional vocabulary tasks.
  • Drama sets subject‑specific tasks.

Our long‑term plan

  • Year 7 students begin using booklets from induction.
  • By the middle of Year 8, all vocabulary will have been introduced.
  • By the end of Year 9, students should be confident and fluent with the key words across the curriculum.
