OFSTED

In May 2026, we welcomed Ofsted into our school and are delighted to now share that our school achieved six “Strong Standard” judgements and one “Expected Standard”judgement, alongside all safeguarding standards being successfully met.

The new “Expected Standard” baseline represents a rigorous national bar with no areas of weakness, so securing six “Strong” ratings is a phenomenal achievement for our school. This outcome is a testament to the tireless dedication of our staff, the brilliance of our students, and the unwavering support of our families and wider school community.

Please take time to read the report in its entirety as there is so much to celebrate but here are some highlights;

  • “Pupils are proud to belong to Abbey Grange… they feel known, welcomed and encouraged to be their best selves… “everyone is appreciated for who they are”
  • “Behaviour across the school is calm and respectful. Pupils respond well to the tangible family atmosphere that is present throughout the school”, “they show kindness to one another and care for their younger peers.”
  • “Staff apply behaviour systems with consistency and pupils understand the high expectations set for them. Suspensions are very low and continue to decline.”
  • “Pupils benefit from a well-planned, ambitious curriculum…… they enjoy lessons.”
  • “Pupils say that adults understand them and make the right adjustments so that they can take part in lessons and wider school life with confidence.”
  • “Disadvantaged pupils achieve particularly well, with progress scores that are well above their peers nationally.”
  • “Pupils leave Abbey Grange well prepared for their next steps… careers education is a significant strength."

This inspection captured exactly what it feels like to be a member of the Abbey Grange family, recognising the extent to which each and every student is valued, developed and celebrated.
