Due to the unprecedented circumstances caused by the pandemic, students in Year 11 and 13 will receive their grades by a different process than examinations that usually occur.
This will have caused many of you considerable upset and concern because you will have wanted to be able to show your ability via an examination.
However, I would like to reassure you that the results you will receive this summer will have the same worth as results achieved in previous years.
Staff at the academy followed a rigorous process used across the Trust, which made best use of available evidence, careful judgment, and was rigorously quality assured. The exam boards then applied a ‘standardisation model’ so that the distribution of grades awarded this year is consistent with those awarded in other years at a national level. This process is aimed at ensuring fairness and consistency between students in different years and in different schools and colleges.
Your results will allow you to continue with the next stage in your life in the normal way.
There will be an opportunity to re sit examinations in the Autumn, but I again must emphasise that the grades received in the summer will have full validity.
Please click on the letter below for year 13 and year 11 where there is more detail about the summer 2020 results process, useful links to support our students and details about how to request Centre Assessed Grades and how to apply for autumn exam series resits.
Please be aware that should you wish to re sit your examinations in the new autumn 2020 series, exam fees will apply.
· Post 16 exam re sit form to be submitted no later than 24 August.
· GCSE exam re sit form to be submitted no later than 11 September.
We hope to see year 11 students back into our Post 16 in September. If you are moving on to pastures new, we wish you all the luck in the world with your nest step of your learning/employment journey. Please let us know how you get on in the future and we hopefully will be able to see you at our presentation evening which will be held in December 2020, current COVID -19 situation dependent.
Best of luck with your future
