Article By: Kay Brown, Chaplain Published Date: 26/01/2016 Last night two Abbey Grange students were awarded the 'Service above Self' award by the Rotary Club of Leeds in recognition of all that they do to serve the wider community. The academy nominated Ella Tinsley in year 12 for all the fundraising she organises and carries out-raising hundred of pounds through her creative ideas -and baking! We also nominated Emma Hall who does an amazing amount of work with children and families through her church, helping individuals and groups to engage with activities and get a break from the routine. We are particularly proud of Emma as she is our Head Girl and epitomises the values of our academy as she is empowered to nurture others whilst still pursuing her education at the highest level. Well done to both girls for all that they do and a thoroughly deserved award. As well as receiving a certificate from the Rotary Club, both students had a prize of £30 worth of books. The awards were presented by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Counsellor Judith Chapman, who also presented them with an owl badge, the symbol of our city.
